Standard flatbed trailer
Features a level platform without sides or roof and usually measures 48-53 feet long and 8.5 feet wide. The cargos are exposed and secured with straps, tarps, or chains.
Removable gooseneck (RGN) flatbed trailer
Features a detachable front section so it can be dropped to the ground for loading and unloading. They can handle extremely heavy loads—up to 150,000 pounds.
Step deck/drop deck trailer
Two deck levels— generally have an 11-foot-long upper deck on the front and a 37-foot-long lower deck at the rear. Designed for cargo that exceeds legal height limits.
Double drop/lowboy trailer
A lower deck height than other flatbed trailers. Designed for taller and heavier machinery like bulldozers, excavators, and backhoe loaders.
Hotshot trailer
Typically 20-40 feet long and towed by medium-duty trucks. Intended for smaller loads that need to be delivered quickly.
Conestoga trailer
Features a rolling tarp on a frame and a hydraulic lid to protect the cargo and for easy loading and unloading of goods.
Side kit trailer
Features sliding walls or sidekits on either side, allowing them to expand or shrink their interior size to accommodate different kinds of cargo.
Multi-axle
With increased axle power, these trailers can carry more than 200,000 pounds. Ideal for multiple vehicles and heavy-duty construction equipment.
